Comelec Chairman George Garcia stated in his New Year message that 2025 will present challenges due to the simultaneous national and local polls and Bangsamoro parliamentary elections in May, along with barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls in December.
Garcia highlighted the opportunity for Filipinos to shape the nation's future and for the Comelec to safeguard election integrity. He acknowledged the challenges, including the first-ever Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, the introduction of automated counting machines (ACMs), and the Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) for overseas voters. Garcia emphasized the potential of these initiatives to promote peace, progress, transparency, and inclusivity. To ensure readiness, Garcia has called for a meeting with all Comelec officials on January 3, 2025
