The Commission on Elections on Thursday said the P14 billion funding slashed from its proposed 2025 budget will impact the preparations for next year’s elections.At the Senate finance subcommittee's hearing on the Comelec ’s P35.47 billion proposed budget for 2025, poll chief George Erwin Garcia said at least P3 billion of the budget cut was initially allocated for the 2025 national and local elections and around P8 billion was for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections .
“Magsu-suffer din po ang training na ginagawa namin para sa mga guro sapagkat sa P3B na nawala for NLE, halos kalahati ay para sa training ng mga teachers…’Yung natitira na balanse more on forms and supply and voters education,” he said.“We understand the fiscal space na meron tayo pero sana sa amin maibalik kahit konti sa BSKE,” Garcia added.
