CEBU CITY – The Commission on Elections in Central Visayas (Comelec-7) has issued show-cause orders (SCOs) to more than 400 candidates in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 30 for alleged election offenses.
Comelec-7 chief Lionel Marco Castillano said 483 were asked to explain accusations that they violated election rules.“They would need to answer the allegations then we proceed from that,” Castillano said in a text message.

We would ask the complainant to sign affidavits for a possible preliminary investigation or for a disqualification case,” Castillano added. Comelec-7 data showed that as of October 18, 418 candidates who were asked to answer an SCO are from Cebu province.
In Bohol province, 56 candidates were issued SCO while 12 candidates in Negros Oriental were asked to answer the accusations against them. The campaign period for the BSKE started on Thursday, October 19. Candidates have until October 28 to campaign.
