Church members in Linworth gained knowledge of how to prevent active shooter situations.
If we can get people trained -- we're seeing active shooter attacks go up, but if you look at the injuries and fatalities, they're going down," said owner of T4Tactics, Marko Galbreath ." It's because people are getting trained; first of all, the prevention, shut it down if it happens -- and heaven forbid it happens -- how are we going to respond to it."
Galbreath has an extensive police background and is certified to teach active shooter trainings. He's traveled to different places where active shooter events took place, talking with survivors, getting a better understanding of what happened.He says some of these shootings, like the school shooting in Georgia last week, can be prevented.
You can de-escalate something by just talking to somebody, communication. We kind of lack communication skills now, so we're teaching just talk to people find out what the problem is," Galbreath says. Church safety teams learned de-escalation skills, and how to work with each other -- not against each other -- for the safety of everyone.
