Colorado Springs police on Friday released body camera footage of a fatal police shooting in which a man pointed a shotgun at officers and refused commands to drop the weapon.
The shooting happened on Feb. 6 in an apartment complex in the 3900 block of East Bijou Street, according to police. At about 1:20 a.m. three 911 calls were made to dispatchers, two reporting shots fired and a third was from a woman reporting that anResponding officers contacted the armed man, who threatened to kill them, before disregarding orders to drop the gun, and pointing it at officers, according to a Significant Events Briefing on the incident released Friday by police.
The release includes video from officers’ body-worn cameras, as well as a video clip taken by a citizen witness of the incident. Police warn that the material is graphic and could be disturbing to viewers.
