A sheriff's department in Colorado has recently asked for all criminal activities to 'cease until further notice,' amid the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S.
The novel coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19, originated in Wuhan, China but has surged throughout the U.S. infecting over 5,000 people, according to a tracker provided by Johns Hopkins University. In Colorado, there are at least 160 cases and one death.
"The post was nothing more than something that was done to brighten people's days and their moods, as we are all affected by what is going on with COVID-19," the sheriff's office wrote. In Kentucky, the Powell County Sheriff's Office and the Breathitt County Sheriff's Office posted similar messages to their Facebook pages.
