Tens of thousands of canisters of 'Collagen Peptides' powder from the brand Vital Proteins have been recalled out of fear that shards of a broken plastic lid contaminated the product.

Supplement promoted by Jennifer Aniston recalled due to potential contamination with plastic shards

The 24-ounce supplement canisters were distributed to Costco stores in 20 states and Puerto Rico, according to a voluntary recall notice from Vital Proteins postedThe stated reason:"potential foreign material contamination ." customers on April 28. The letter urged customers who'd purchased the supplements not to consume them and to return the product to Costco for a full refund.Vital Proteins said in a statement on Wednesday that it initiated the recall"out of an abundance of caution and our commitment to product quality and consumer safety."

"To date, no injuries have been reported in relation to this recall," the statement continued."No other retailers or e-tailers are affected by this recall, and no other Vital Proteins products are affected."
