MANILA, Philippines — Sixteen fishermen were rescued in the waters off Oriental Mindoro after the engine of their boat broke down.

The Philippine Coast Guard on Thursday said its crew, together with the Philippine National Police maritime group, came to the aid of the fishermen on Sunday, April 23.“On 22 April 2023, FBCA Princess Ricamae, skippered by Mr. Rowell Bones, departed Rosario, Cavite, going to Estancia, Iloilo, for a fishing venture,” the PCG said in a statement.

“The next day, while traversing the vicinity waters off Baco Chico Island, Calapan, they encountered engine trouble due to a malfunctioned engine injection pump,” it added.
