Clear Creek rallies in final quarter to upend Clear Springs in 24-6A girls basketball matchup
Clear Springs’ Amirah Gray puts up a shot over Clear Creek’s Sierra Woods Jan. 6, 2023 at Clear Springs High School.Trailing Clear Springs by 10 points in the fourth quarter Friday night, Clear Creek didn’t exactly possess a promising script for a comeback in an important District 24-6A girls basketball matchup at the Lady Charger gymnasium.
“I need to go watch film and see what we did right,” Golden said. “We just kept on plugging away, stuck with the game plan, and some good things happened for us.The win improved Creek to 3-1 in District 24-6A while Clear Springs fell to 3-2. Creek used a 10-0 run to tie the game at 32 with freshman guard Aniya Brannon scoring five of those points.
Clear Springs’ Bria Jackson scored with four seconds left for a 44-42 score, but Creek didn’t need to risk an inbounds pass to secure the win. “They just kept feeding off it. Amirah works hard and plays very hard. When we move the ball inside and then back out, we get some good looks.”“With the kind of effort and attitude that they’re giving, you’re always having a chance to win a game,” Golden said.
