That's Escareno receiving the baton from Peterson.Clear Creek ISD track and field teams have given the rest of District 24-6A cause for concern for their district meet after strong efforts at the recent Brown Relays at Allan Brown Stadium.
Elkins High School almost captured second place in the team standings when it tallied 101 points. Sydney Freeman and Taylor Jackson were the reasons for that nice tally. Each scored 20 points, but Faith Holman was heard from loud and clear when she amassed 18 points to the cause. As for the relay races, where the points are doubled, a rare win by the Pasadena ISD camps got things under way. In the girls' distance medley, the Dobie team of Ashlee Garcia, Christina Rodriguez, Kyla Lobo and Lauren Garza hit the finish line in 13:41.06. But Clear Lake was just three seconds back and champion Clear Creek was third at 13:49.80.
The meet closed with the 4 by 400 and Clear Creek solidified its triumph with the time of 4:10.50. Humble was a distant seven seconds back and La Porte took third. The guys had Humble winning top honors with the time of 3:28.56. Alief Taylor was next at 3:31.52 and Clear Lake secured the bronze medal at 3:31.90.
