He said the band has no influence whatsoever when it comes to the decision-making.
Tommy Shaw recently admitted in an interview that his band Styx is frustrated to not have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet.
“We don’t have any influence whatsoever,” Shaw told Billboard. “So to be anticipating it or be disappointed that we’re not in there… I don’t even know who the people are who judge , so I can’t really say much about it.” Styx has sold over 54 million albums which includes five consecutive multi-platinum releases in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. The band has been eligible for induction since 1998, but have yet to receive a nomination,
“If that thing’s meant to happen, it will,” Shaw added. “We just know that our fans love us and we know that our music is good before we let them hear it.”There are examples of other bands who were ignored and didn’t get inducted after years of success. Foreigner, for instance, will finally be inducted later this year.
