The SNAPNetwork issued the letter to California Attorney General Rob Bonta's office on Wednesday.
In the aftermath of the Oakland Diocese declaring bankruptcy as it faces hundreds of lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse, the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests is asking California Attorney General Rob Bonta to release a report of his findings on Catholic sex abuse in the state.
Former Attorney General Xavier Becerra opened an investigation into the state's 12 Catholic dioceses three years ago, though no preliminary report has been issued. The nonprofit said it has analyzed public available legal proceedings pertaining to the eight Northern California dioceses. SNAP would like to meet with Bonta and combine their research with data gathered by his office based on the lawsuits.
