The Christian music scene is mourning the loss of bassist and vocalist Jay Weaver, who died Sunday from COVID-19 complications at the age of 42.
“You have walked with through a huge fight, and I’m so sorry to bring this news, but I’m also excited to celebrate where he is right now. My brother Jay went to be with Jesus just a couple hours ago due to complications due to COVID-19 on top of everything else he had going on,” Mike Weaver said.
Big Daddy Weave, best known for Christian chart toppers “My Story” and “I Know,” released their most recent album, “When the Light Comes,” in 2019,According to a post on the Curb Records site, Jay Weaver had both his feet amputated in 2016 following a massive infection in his body,The band also shared a 2020 update on Jay Weaver’s health on Instagram, noting that he was undergoing dialysis “to help with kidney function,” the network reported.
