The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Thursday voiced support to the findings of UN Special Rapporteur (UNSR) Mama Fatima Singhateh regarding the sale and sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines.
In a statement, the CHR particularly mentioned Singhateh's recommendation for the country to have separate policies for addressing child trafficking and for addressing sale of children for sexual exploitation.
"The sale of children for sexual exploitation is a specific offense that necessitates unique measures as opposed to child trafficking as an encompassing crime." Her visit included CHR's participation in the series of national agencies cluster meetings and other the dialogue-meetings with three CHR regional offices.
