AVON LAKE, Ohio – The steady rain that started well before warmups and never really quit until the game was long over kept Chardon from really breaking things open Friday night.

It’s awesome having some out there that fast with that type of game-breaking ability that I can just rely on and trust.”
“We got the job done, but it was sloppy doing it,” Caleb Hewitt said. “We had a lot of mistakes we have to fix up if we want to be the team that we’re supposed to be. Our defense played lights out, though, and I’ll tell you what, we fly around on defense and that’s what it’s all about. We just got to clean up the mistakes and we’ll be fine.
Chardon had one more drive deep into Shoremen territory, starting from the 50 following a short punt and moving down to the 13. However, a fumbled snap, a holding penalty and an incomplete pass on fourth-and-10 from the 19 derailed the scoring opportunity, and it remained 21-7 at the half.With the rain coming down harder in the second half, it was tough for either offense to get anything going.
