TROY, Ala. - Few individuals transcend themselves into greatness, and even fewer find themselves amongst the legends. Head coach Chanda Rigby finds herself joining the legends as she becomes inducted into the Florida College System Activities Association Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024, the FCSAA announced Saturday evening.
Members of the Hall of Fame have made outstanding contributions as a coach, player, official, administrator or contributor. Coaches must have been actively involved in coaching at an FCSAA-member college for a minimum of five years or won an NJCAA Championship. Rigby is the lone coach, joining Ramona Edwards and Carla Williams as members of the Class of 2024.
2011 and 2012 saw Rigby’s best seasons as she led the Pirates to their first FCSAA Championship in 26 years before repeating the following year. She seized two Pandhandle and FCSAA Coach of the Year Awards, 64 wins and consecutive third place finishes in the NJCAA Tournament. In 2011 alone, she won 34 straight games before falling in the FCSAA semifinals to finish 35-1.
While at Pensacola State, Rigby produced four All-FCSAA performers, four NJCAA All-Americans and three WBCA All-Americans.
