Sandro Grande's tenure in charge of CF Montréal's reserve team lasted less than 24 hours.
The club announced Grande's hiring on Monday and on Tuesday, it quickly let him go amid an outcry over old social media posts that seemed to endorse the 2012 assassination attempt on Quebec premier-elect Pauline Marois. "We recognize that the hiring of Sandro Grande was a mistake, and we regret any repercussions that may have been caused by this decision," Gabriel Gervais, President and CEO of CF Montréal said in a"We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to anyone who was hurt or shocked. Clearly, we have demonstrated a lack of sensibility and have grossly underestimated what he said and what he did several years ago.
Following the election of Marois, a man opened fire midway through her victory speech, killing one stage technician and severely injuring another. The next day, Grande said on Twitter:"The only mistake the shooter made last night was not getting the target!!! Marois!!! Next time buddy!!
