The owl is alive and receiving medical attention at a local rehabilitation center, York County police said.

An owl is recovering after a police officer rescued the animal from along a York County road. An owl found bloody and lethargic along a York County road is receiving medical attention thanks to a local police officer.

Penn Township police said a civilian found the owl lying facedown on Wilson Avenue, near Karen Lane, around 10:22 p.m. Monday and called 911. Officers connected with a representative from the Pennsylvania Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators, who picked up the owl and took the animal to a local rehabilitation center.

“We are happy to report that the owl is alive and is being cared for at a local rehabilitation center,” police said. “Job well done to the caller who called 911, Officer Irvin for responding, locating and seeking additional resources and the Pennsylvania Association of Wildlife Rehabilitators for their assistance in this case.”
