A Cumberland County creamery is asked for the public’s help rebuilding after fire tore through the business.
An early Tuesday morning electrical fire in Newburg destroyed Keswick Creamery’s milking parlor, milk house and cheese plant, according to aAll of the creamery’s animals survived the fire, besides one beloved cat, the creamery said. The fire was knocked down quickly and contained to one building. Although the business has insurance, it will not cover the entirety of rebuild expenses, according to the GoFundMe.
The GoFundMe has raised more than $14,000 toward its $100,000 goal as of Friday morning. Keswick said donations will go toward rebuilding and replacing destroyed creamery equipment. “Keswick Creamery has been a steady force in the local food community, bringing fresh and tasty cheeses, yogurt and pudding to customers with pride,” Sharon Perrone, the GoFundMe’s organizer and a longtime friend of the creamery’s wrote on GoFundMe. “We’d like to help them get back to that as soon as possible!”
