Jesse Treviño's autobiographical work"Mi Vida" is on display at the Central Library, where a panel discussion of his legacy will be held Wednesday evening.Treviño painted “Mi Vida” after he returned to San Antonio following his military service in Vietnam. Three months into his tour, he had been shot by a sniper then stumbled into a booby trap. He lost a lot of blood, nearly lost his leg, and lost the use of his right arm.
The panel discussion will include newsman Randy Beamer, a close friend of Treviño’s who is working on a documentary about him; artist César Martínez, a contemporary of Treviño’s who also is a veteran; Anthony Head, author of “Spirit: The Life and Art of Jesse Treviño”; and Gabriel Quintero Velasquez, president/CEO of the Avenida Guadalupe Association.
