CEBU CITY — Cebu Gov . Gwendolyn Garcia has urged the Department of Transportation to address potential issues hounding the ongoing Cebu Bus Rapid Transit project. She criticized the outdated and impractical nature of the mass transport system and raised concerns about blocked views of the Capitol building and heritage law violations.Garcia expressed her disapproval of the project's current approach, questioning its efficiency and practicality.
On July 2, Garcia ordered the DoTr to clear out the steel structures and construction materials from these bus stations, threatening that the provincial government would seek rent payments otherwise.Garcia criticized the exclusivity of the CBRT lanes to buses, which would force traditional jeepneys and modern public utility vehicles to drop passengers at bus stations instead of their usual routes. She questioned where jeepney operators would be placed given the presence of CBRT buses.
