A recent CDC report found that those who were vaccinated and survived a COVID-19 infection were more protected from delta than those who were vaccinated but did not previously contract the virus

As people with mild COVID cases start to feel better and come out of quarantines, many are wondering what omicron immunity actually means? FOX 9 spoke with two doctors who offered advice.

Despite these findings suggesting the potency of natural immunity, the CDC says getting vaccinated still remains anyone’s best shot at protection from severe illness or death caused by an emerging variant. "The evidence in this report does not change our vaccination recommendations," Dr. Ben Silk of the CDC and one of the study's authors told a media briefing. "We know that vaccination is still the safest way to protect yourself against COVID-19," he added.Studies have shown that infection from COVID-19 provides short-term immunity, but that protection fades over time. In addition, natural immunity differs from person to person.

Other studies have shown that those who were previously infected with COVID-19 and received the vaccine made antibodies that could identify variants even without being exposed to the variant.
