A crowd of more than 100 students, teachers and parents gathered in front of the high school late Thursday morning, cheering with excitement as team names were announced and then posing for photos together before rushing back to class. The 10 teams selected this week created products ranging from biodegradable golf tees to compression socks that have orthopedic inserts in them.
Maddox Meador, 17, is on one of the wild card teams. His group, Bandit, created a product that can cinch the waist of shorts or pants to help people achieve the perfect fit. Maddox’s father Mark Meador attended the announcement on Thursday to cheer on his son and snap a few photos on his phone of his Maddox with his teammates.
