The Calumet Park Elementary District 132 Board voted 5-1 to remove Synathia Harris as president, replacing her with board member Sherri Storey.
Synathia Harris was removed as board president in Calumet Park Elementary District 132 at a recent special school board meeting.
Synathia Harris, who has been on the board since being elected in spring 2017, was accused of being antagonistic toward other board members and failing to provide leadership to the board, the board stated in a resolution at the Dec. 5 meeting. Harris was reelected last year and had been board president since shortly after her reelection.
She said the district was charged $7.61 for one of the breakfast meetings, which was held up as evidence of frivolous spending. She said before the 5-1 vote to remove her as president she was not given sufficient opportunity to counter the allegations.News updates from the south suburbs delivered every Monday and WednesdayShe said she had three children come out of the district schools and that she will “continue to be an advocate for children” in District 132, which serves about 800 students at three schools.Harris isn’t the first board president in the district to have been removed from that position.
