The local government of Caloocan on Sunday declared a state of calamity in the city due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat enhanced by Typhoon Carina .The declaration was contained in Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 4267 -2024.The declaration of a state of calamity enables the local government to access emergency funds swiftly and implement relief operations to aid the displaced residents.
The resolution stated that the weather Carina-enhance Habagat caused adverse effects such as heavy rainfall, severe flooding, and destruction of properties in the city.It added that the weather disturbance affected 3,035 familiar or 15,390 individuals in the city's 46 barangays.The Metro Manila Council earlier declared a state of calamity in the National Capital Region due to the massive floodings.The local governments of Manila and Malabon also declared states of calamity .
