The family of California woman Barbie Hughes says she died after being struck by a vehicle in the Big Bear Lake area while trying to help someone during a winter storm.
Barbie Hughes died Sunday, Feb. 26, after being hit by a vehicle while trying to help somebody stuck in snow in the Big Bear Lake area, her family says.
"She was killed from a vehicle vs. pedestrian incident," a San Bernardino County Sheriff spokesman said.Eastbound Highway 50 requires chain control on vehicles as snow falls in Pollock Pines, Calif., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023. Hughes' family said following the incident that she was taken to a local hospital, where her mother, Sheree, was"able to be there with her while she was awake."
"Upon completing X-rays/CT Scan the doctors learned her injuries were substantial and severe," the family wrote on Facebook."They couldn’t airlift her
