California Gov. Gavin Newsom to TheView: 'We are the most un-Trump state in America, and we are also the most diverse state in America.'
In the past, these voters have needed to request a partisan ballot to participate in the Democratic primary in advance for those voting by mail -- or at the polling place for those who go in person. The Republican party requires independent voters to re-register as Republicans in order to participate in the GOP’s closed primary.
