CEBU CITY, Philippines -- Swimmer Albert Jose Almaro of Calabarzon swept his way to seven gold medals in the secondary boys class at the 64th Palaro ng Pambansa here.The San Beda Taytay tanker capped his golden swim with a 4x100m freestyle relay championship on Sunday, July 14 at the Cebu City Sports Center. Amaro , alongside Eric Umali, Kevin Arguzon, and Nimrod Montera, clocked a time of 3:38.83 as he has totaled eight gold medals in his Palaro career.
'Before the swim, I also thought of the training I've done the past 11 weeks to prepare for this. And I said to myself that I've already won my individual events, why would I surrender in my final event.'The 17-year-old's other individual events this year were 50m and 100m butterfly events as well as 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, and 4x100m medley relay.Amaro not only won, he also established new records in 50m butterfly with 25.
