THE provinces of Cagayan and Pampanga have been placed under a state of calamity because of the damage caused by Super Typhoon 'Egay' and the southwest monsoon.
Cagayan Vice Governor Melvin Vargas Jr. and Pampanga Third District Board Member Ananias 'Jun' Canlas Jr. told a public briefing on Tuesday that their respective local government units have been mobilized to assist their constituents.
'Our province has always been in the path of storms, and you can count on us to assist you,' Vice Governor Vargas said in a statement in Filipino.Canlas also noted that in a state of calamity, local governments can use emergency funds to assist locals.'Municipalities and villages can use their quick response funds to assist those affected under Resolution No. 8058 of The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Pampanga,' Canlas said.
