CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Kagay-an Heritage Advocates submitted a petition on Friday afternoon, August 18, to the office of Mayor Rolando Uy here opposing the destruction of the historic Ysalina Bridge in this city.

The city government had earlier said that the Ysalina Bridge would be replaced with a four-lane bridge and the structure must be destroyed for public safety. If they could have their way, Ilogon said it would be better if the parallel bridge would connect either to the streets of Gumamela or Everlasting in Barangay Carmen to at least ease traffic in the area.

Ellorin acknowledged the sentiments of the heritage advocates but he said that the Ysalina Bridge has been replaced four times. The CMO is currently working on the schedule of the forum as it is still coordinating with DPWH-Region 10, whose presence is needed as the lead implementer of the project.
