Raylen Russell, Rachel Joseph, Christina Pleasant and Amariya Hardeman finished the sprint relay in 45.33 for the state title, edging Plano East by .05 in a close race. Joseph added a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 53.42 as Elkins senior Mfoniso Andrew took fourth with a 54.46. The Tigers standout leaped 50-10.5 and 51-7.25 as well. North Shore’s Jaden Harris earned silver with a 50-3.75, with Ridge Point sophomore Karson Gordon landing a 49-3.75 for fourth in a strong showing for the Houston area.
Marshall towered over class 5A, medaling in five relays including championships in the boys 800-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay.
