The bus of around 30 people arrived at Oak Lawn United Methodist church just after 10 a.m.
"It touched my heart personally because I was in a detention center 30 years ago. I'm doing this because I know what it feels like to be in a detention center," said Isabel Marquez, an associate pastor at Oak Lawn UMC. "These people deserve new opportunities, these people are looking for better ways of living. We want to be on that part of their journey, so they can know this country is a welcoming country.
Dallas County judge Clay Jenkins says the migrants will stay for no more than 36 hours before being transported to final destinations elsewhere in the U.S.El Paso, which has seen a large rise in border crossings in recent weeks, announced it would be busing migrants to Dallas, Houston, Denver and Phoenix late last week.
