Jon Johnson KINSTON – Bubba Pollard celebrated his 37th birthday in Victory Lane on Saturday night after winning the 48th Annual Hardee's Rattler 250 at the South Alabama Speedway for the second consecutive year.“I’ll probably go home, because I haven’t been home in about a month,” Pollard said. “I’m ready to go home and spend some time with the family. I’ve got enough energy tonight to make it on to the house.
It marked the third win in as many races this year for Pollard. He took victories at SpeedFest in Cordele, Ga., and the ASA race in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. “This is why I love this place,” Pollard said. “I’ve been coming here for a long time … I’ve had a lot of success and the fans are great. What the Dykes family do … you want to come and support people like that and be a part of their event.
The race was originally scheduled for Sunday as is tradition, but due to expected rain, the decision was made Friday to run the Rattler 250 under the lights as the main attraction of a full day of races on Saturday. Pole-sitter Jeremy Doss of Upperlake, Calif., Jeff Noland of Groveland, Fla., and Finch were one-two-three for 80-plus laps before Noland took the lead.
“I look up to Bubba a lot … he’s a really good friend of mine and does a great job, obviously,” Finch said. “It was kind of fun to be able to push him a little bit and force him to make some mistakes.
