Bryson DeChambeau has a message to critics who believe he had to withdraw from this week’s Saudi International because of his intense workout regimen: Calm down, it’s not true.
DeChambeau, who shot a 3-over 73 in the opening round Thursday, withdrew from the tournament before the second round because of injuries to his left hand and left hip. “Everyone needs to chill,” the 28-year-old DeChambeau posted on his Instagram account Saturday. “Yes, I hurt myself but not from hitting it far. I slipped and fell this week on Tuesday unfortunately. I know people probably [won’t] believe me, but that is the truth. I will be back stronger and better than ever in a few weeks. Thank you for your concerns and keep hitting bombs!! I will be back.”
, DeChambeau, the ninth-ranked golfer in the world, isn’t scheduled to play next week in the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale, but is listed in the field for the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club, beginning Feb. 17.This has been a challenging stretch for DeChambeau, who won the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in 2021.
He missed the cut on Jan. 27 at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and was seen holding and grabbing his wrist during the second round.
