Perrion Winfrey is ready to turn it around.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The moment Browns rookie defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey was declared inactive for the Bills game last week in Detroit, he tweeted “I can’t fake it this been one of the worst years of my life … I WONT stop tho.”
Winfrey, who’s missed four games, including two because of maturity issues, is no longer speaking “worst year” into existence. If Winfrey doesn’t pull himself together fast, his rookie season will be a waste. The Browns selected him in the fourth round out of Oklahoma to be part of the tackle rotation, and he hasn’t lived up to expectations.
Myles Garrett, who’s mentored him and said after the benching in Week 2 that he needed to learn how to be a pro, acknowledged that he’s a work in progress.
