ENGLEWOOD, Colo — The Broncos’ rookie minicamp this weekend won’t be just for rookies.joining the Broncos’ rookie minicamp this weekend is NFL veteran inside linebacker Ty SummersSummers has played in 71 games, counting the postseason, the past five seasons with Green Bay, Jacksonville and New Orleans – 14.2 games per year – since he was a 7th-round draft choice out of TCU by the Packers in 2019.
The Broncos signed veteran free agent Cody Barton to a one-year contract this offseason, but there will be a competition for the starting inside linebacker position next to Alex Singleton. Nix was the Broncos’ first-round draft choice, No. 12 overall, out of Oregon two weeks ago. The rookie minicamp will be the first time he takes snaps from center and runs an offense for his professional team.
Players from local colleges who will be participating as tryout invitees include Matocha, Air Force safety Jayden Goodwin, and Colorado State’s Tony Pierce, an outside linebacker, and guard Oliver Jervis. Oregon State defensive end Joe Golden is from Colorado Springs' Doherty High School.
