Broadcom billionaire Henry Nicholas will avoid jail time in the Vegas Strip drug case
cofounder of chipmaker Broadcom, and his co-defendant Ashley Fargo took a plea deal in a drug case in Nevada state court on Wednesday. The deal allows the pair to avoid prison time in exchange for drug counseling and a $1 million donation to local drug treatment programs.
According to a statement from the office of Clark County District Attorney Steven Wolfson, the conditions of the plea agreement require Nicholas and Fargo to complete drug counseling and 250 hours of community service. Each must donate $500,000 to Las Vegas drug treatment organizations. On August 7, 2018, Nicholas and Fargo were arrested and charged with five counts of drug trafficking after police found large quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and psilocin in Nicholas’ room at the Encore hotel in Las Vegas. Nicholas and Fargo denied the charges. Nicholas hired famed Vegas defense attorney David Chesnoff and his partner Richard Schonfeld.
A status check to monitor Nicholas’ and Fargo’s compliance with the terms of their deal is scheduled for April 19, 2020.
