Brian Hartline made progress calling plays for Ohio State's offense in spring practice, including in the spring game on Saturday.
Hartline’s debut impressed Kyle McCord, who is competing with Devin Brown to start at quarterback in the coming season.“He sees the game from a really good perspective,” McCord said. “That’s a testament to his time playing and now being a coach. He sees all 11 guys. Sometimes with a receivers coach you would think he only knows the passing game or he knows the running game protections, but he understands all of that fully. He stepped up to the role and hit it out of the park.
Tate stood out throughout spring practice and continued to be featured with the first-team offense on Saturday.The other touchdown toss was brought in by Noah Rogers, who was lined in the slot with the second-team offense when he grabbed a pass from Tristan Gebbia over the middle slice of the field. Hicks’ first pass break-up came as he nearly intercepted a pass by McCord to end the offense’s opening drive, forcing a three-and-out.
