Summary Bosch: Legacy's Renée Ballard spinoff gets a big update, with new photos revealing the filming start. Based on the Ballard novels by author Michael Connelly, it was confirmed in May that Maggie Q had been cast as Renée Ballard for the Prime Video adaptation. It was also revealed that the former Nikita star would crossover with Titus Welliver's Harry Bosch in the Bosch: Legacy season 3 finale, which would partly serve as Ballard's introduction.
Another photo by Connelly highlights the start of filming, with Q looking to be behind the wheel for a scene, which can be shown above. Similarly, the author expressed his excitement about the upcoming project. The untitled Renée Ballard spinoff follows Q's titular character as she helms the LAPD’s new cold case division, but it's poorly funded and an all-volunteer unit. It also has the largest caseload in the city. Ballard has her own approach to these unsolved, frozen-in-time cases, taking an approach filled with empathy and determination. Still, as teased by the upcoming Bosch: Legacy crossover, Ballard is not entirely on her own.
