U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have seized a haul of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl worth over $500,000 stashed inside a vehicle on the U.S.-Mexico border.CBP officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry discovered 44.59 pounds of narcotics after agents apprehended a man allegedly attempting to smuggle the drug at Camino Real International Bridge on 27 July.
-Mexico border cities of Eagle Pass, Texas, and Piedras Negras, Coahuila.The operation is part of ongoing CBP efforts to intercept and prevent the trafficking of illicit substances into the United States.Data published by the CBP shows that so far this year there have been 15,149 pounds of fentanyl and 790 pounds of heroin confiscated, as of June 2024.Law enforcement officials at the U.S.-Mexico border seized 123,573 pounds of meth in the Southwest alone in 2023-2024 fiscal year.
