MAR VISTA — A bomb squad was sent to search a residence in Mar Vista Thursday as a follow-up investigation to the arrest of a man on suspicion of making criminal threats, police said.
The search was being conducted on the 3400 block of Federal Avenue, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department. On Tuesday, police arrested 20-year-old Aaron Best and booked him on suspicion of making threats, Herrera said. Thursday’s search was ordered after authorities went to the residence as part of the investigation and discovered what originally was described as “possible devices,” Herrera said. They later downgraded that assessment to “an unknown chemical substance,” Herrera said.
