UPDATE: The Nassau County Department of Health announced Saturday night that the water main break has been repaired and water has been restored to the affected customers. The boil water notice, however, remains in effect pending the results of water samples. The department added that the boil water notice was not expected to be lifted as of Saturday night. Lastly, the department said it will update the media when the notice is lifted. Original Saturday evening story is below.
Long Island residents in five communities are being told to boil their water in the aftermath of a water main break that impacted 30,000 customers. The incident also caused a temporary disruption in water pressure at the Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. By Saturday, Liberty Water officials told News 12 that all water to affected customers had been restored.“I don't know why it happened, if it is going to happen again because it happened not too long ago on the opposite side of the street," says Ksenija Remy, of Baldwin.Authorities: Brooklyn man accused of stealing checks while working as Suffolk mail handler
