Fire officials said they were in the middle of excavating the building Thursday morning when a K-9 unit alerted them to a pile in front of building. The body, which has not yet been identified, was taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore, Jones said. at the apartment complex at 8:30 a.m. Montgomery County Fire Chief Scott Goldstein said two of the complex's six-unit buildings, 826 and 828, were affected by the explosion, and two others were evacuated.
All of the occupants of building 828 have been accounted for, Goldstein said Thursday afternoon, but crews will continue to search through the debris.
