Former Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife revealed they are expecting a child. The couple's 19-month-old died last year in a drowning accident.
CONNECTTWEETLINKEDINCOMMENTEMAILMOREFormer Olympic skier Bode Miller revealed Wednesday that he and his wife Morgan are expecting a child — a little less than a year after 19-month old daughter Emeline died in a tragic drowning accident at a neighbor's house.
The Millers appeared in the television segment alongside Nicole Hughes, a woman whose 3-year-old son drowned the exact same day as Emeline. Hughes, who has appeared in several PSAs with the Millers, is also expecting. On the topic of swimming safety and the dangers of drowning, Bode Miller cautioned parents to always be on the lookout and avoid multi-tasking. New research says swim lessons can help children after age one to avoid drowning, a top cause of death for 1- to 4-year olds.
Both the Miller and Hughes families are hoping there one day will be safety measures on par with car seats and seat belts when it comes to drowning prevention.
