Bobi lived to be 31 years 165 days old.
A picture taken on February 12, 2023 shows Bobi, a 30 year-old Portuguese dog that had been declared the world's oldest dog by Guinness World Records, sitting at his home in the village of Conqueiros in Leiria.
CONQUEIROS, Portugal - The world’s oldest dog has died. Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed of Portuguese dog, passed away Friday at his home in the Portuguese village of Conqueiros, where he lived his entire life with the Costa family., "Last night, this sweet boy earned his wings. Despite outliving every dog in history, his 11,478 days on earth would never be enough for those who loved him. Godspeed, Bobi you’ve taught the world all you were meant to teach.
The “very sociable” dog was never lonely because he grew up surrounded by many other animals, Costa said. As he got into his senior years, Bobi found it difficult to walk, so he preferred to hang out at home in the yard. His eyesight had gotten worse, meaning he often bumped into things when he walked. Just like old-age humans, Bobi slept a lot.“Bobi was special because looking at him was like remembering the people who were part of our family and unfortunately are no longer here, like my father, my brother, or my grandparents who have already left this world,” Costa said.
