Thought an M3 wagon was cool? You ain't seen nothing yet...
For the first time in the history of BMW’s M Division, 2024 will see both an M3 and an M5 Touring in the product lineup. Just confirmed as part of the seventh generation M5 range is a wagon variant, the first such car since the much loved E61 variant with its V10 engine. The new car will be only the third estate ever in almost 40 years of the M5, the first being the straight-six E34 of the early 1990s.

Which sounds like a pretty incredible fast estate to us, especially if it can emulate what’s been achievedDon’t forget the additional power, too, the next M5 coming with a hybridised V8 previewed in.
BMW is being coy on details for now, rightly confident that the mere confirmation of the first M5 Touring in more than 15 years is newsworthy enough. It says that testing will commence for the new car on public roads imminently, with the Nordschleife and other circuits to follow for ‘ensuring the ideal balance of sporting performance on the racetrack and superior ride comfort in everyday driving and over long distances.
