Office Evolution a new black owned co working space in East BrunswickAt Office Evolution in East Brunswick, 30 companies sit amid a Pac-Man machine, movie theater, ping pong table and wellness room.
Marty Fredo of Iselin said the space works for his company Talution Group, a staffing and recruiting agency based in Chicago.“There’s a Pac-Man, a ping pong table, which is important for us because we bring in a lot of millennials and try to train them and teach them our business,” Fredo said. “They want spaces with amenities that have a start-up vibe.”
Karen Fisher found a love for assisting small businesses and conducting financial literacy presentations at work. But entrepreneurship was something she says is in her blood because her father owned his own business. The co-working business attracted the couple, George Fisher said, because there was a lot of opportunity. Since the pandemic, he said the working environment has changed and many corporations want cut costs and avoid long-term leases.
By comparison, Karen Fisher said, a typical commercial lease for 5,000 square feet of space could easily cost a corporation $10,000 a month or more, plus utilities. George Fisher said they often host networking events where the different companies in the space can network among themselves. “People take advantage of that networking,” he said. “It helps build their business.”
