The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has dismissed 26 of its personnel and suspended two others as part of its internal cleansing process since last year. ManilaBulletin READ:
"As we strive to transform the BIR into an institution of integrity and excellence we have removed some employes and suspended others who have failed to meet our stringent criteria for integrity and professionalism," BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. said.
He said the dismissed employees were found guilty of various offenses, including grave misconduct, serious dishonesty, frequent unauthorized absences, falsification of official documents, gross neglect of duty, insubordination, and absence without official leave.Lumagui said that If the investigations uncover grounds for dismissal, swift action will be taken to terminate the individual's employment.
If there are sufficient grounds for suspension, he said the officials concerned will be temporarily relieved of their duties. "Our unwavering commitment lies in providing the public with a new BIR organization that epitomizes integrity and professionalism," he stressed
