A vocal proponent of Charter Change (Cha-cha) in the House of Representatives says that the chamber would 'respect' the Senate’s decision in case it would reject the proposal to create a constitutional convention (con-con).
Giving emphasis to the big picture, Camarines Sur 2nd district Rep. LRay Villafuerte says the House of Representatives would respect the Senate’s potential rejection of its con-con proposal.
“We in the House would respect such a decision by a majority of our senators and leave it at that," Villafuerte said. “Right now, it’s beside the point whether the Senate considers improving our Constitution by way of a con-con or con-ass ,’ Villafuerte said. Recently, Senator Robin Padilla, chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Reivision of Laws, said he was close to submitting the chamber’s own Cha-cha proposal for for plenary action.
