Here's how the night unfolded. All times Eastern.

"This is a time to move aggressively, dealing with the coronavirus crisis, to deal with the economic fallout," Sanders continued,"but it is also time to rethink America and create a country where we care about each other rather than a nation of greed and corruption, which is what is taking place among the corporate elite."

Moderators look on as Democratic U.S. presidential candidates former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders discuss an issue during the 11th Democratic candidates debate of the 2020 U.S. presidential campaign, held in CNN's Washington studios without an audience because of the global coronavirus pandemic, in Washington, March 15, 2020."I learned I can't take the word of a president when, in fact, they assured me that they would not use force," Biden said.

"Look," Biden replied,"the idea of occasionally saying something nice about a country is one thing. The idea of praising a country that is violating human rights around the world is, in fact, makes our allies wonder what's going on.""It's not a question of reentering the Paris Accord," Sanders said, saying commitments are not enough."That's fine. Who cares? It's not a big deal.

The move represented a reversal for Biden, who opposed the policy as a presidential candidate in 2007, previously saying undocumented immigrants arrested by local police should be turned over to immigration officials. Sanders wouldn't go quite as far in guaranteeing he'd choose a woman, but he did say it would happen"in all likelihood."Both candidates, who are in their late 70s -- were asked what they're doing to protect themselves as the novel coronavirus spreads across the country.

He was also defeated by his challenger, Former Vice President Joe Biden, in Mississippi, Missouri, and Idaho.
